While HEADGEAR's original Mobile Police Patlabor (機動警察パトレイバー) might not have spawned a ton of memorable sequels, it's an undeniable classic for many 90s anime fans. And guess what? Last year, they even dropped the news that the Mobile Police Patlabor EZY (機動警察パトレイバー EZY) project is officially kicking off in 2026, signaling a potential comeback!
Fast forward to the "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025" exhibition, held from May 8th to 10th at Tokyo Big Sight, where a fresh startup called MOVeLOT absolutely stole the show. They unveiled a fully functional "Ingram" unit you could actually climb into and pilot! Yep, test rides were on offer, drawing in crowds of excited visitors.

MOVeLOT's epic build is none other than the Ingram unit from the upcoming "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY" anime. The demo model? A fully articulated upper body, boasting movable fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. You pilot it from a cockpit nestled in its chest, using not just traditional joysticks but also a slick, glove-like "Diver-X controller" that lets you command the robot with your own hand gestures.

According to MOVeLOT's dev team, this Ingram wasn't cheap – we're talking over 100 million yen in production costs! But hey, some dreams are priceless, and for them, it was all about that "man's romance" of bringing a giant robot to life.
The current demo only features the upper body, a safety-first decision for those test pilots. But the good news? They're confident that if they can nail the safety protocols, a full lower body is totally doable. Imagine that – a complete, 3-meter-tall walking Ingram!

And here's the kicker: this Ingram's outer shell is totally swappable! That means you could theoretically slap on a different exterior and transform it into a mech from *another* robot anime, even with the same internal guts. The future could hold even more "rideable IP robot experiences," letting everyone live out their ultimate dream of piloting their favorite giant robot!
