Ever heard of the "Phoenix Host Stabbing Incident"? Back in 2019, this case rocked Japan, making headlines across the nation. The story centers on 21-year-old Yuka Takaoka, who was head-over-heels for a host named Ryūgetsu. She poured everything into their relationship, only to discover photos of other women on his phone. Love turned to rage, and she stabbed him. Miraculously, Ryūgetsu survived his severe injuries, earning him the media moniker "Phoenix Host." Takaoka was subsequently imprisoned for the crime.
Now, after serving her time, Yuka Takaoka has made a comeback, diving headfirst into the social media world. She's transformed into a KOL streamer, and her recent X (formerly Twitter) post, featuring her cosplay as Sakuya Izayoi from Touhou Project, has definitely caught the internet's attention.
Interestingly, during the trial, the victim, Ryūgetsu, actually pleaded with the judge for leniency on her behalf. Takaoka ultimately received a 3.5-year sentence. As for Ryūgetsu, his career flourished after the incident; he capitalized on his "Phoenix" persona and remains a prominent figure in the host club scene.
Since her release, Yuka Takaoka has focused on building her social media presence. She streams on Twitch, playing games and chatting with her followers, often expressing her deep love for Pokémon. While she might not be a viral sensation, she's cultivated a steady and supportive fanbase.
Recently, she shared her Touhou Project Sakuya Izayoi cosplay, describing it as "heavily processed." While some netizens praised her choice, others found it a bit unsettling given her past, questioning the appropriateness of cosplaying a character who wields knives and throws them.
It seems her new life as a streamer and influencer is treating her well. She frequently interacts with her fans and openly shares snippets of her daily life during streams. Perhaps she's truly found her second act.
▼ She's also previously cosplayed Makima from Chainsaw Man and interacted with fans on stream.
