The latest Gundam anime, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, kicked off this season in 2025, immediately grabbing attention with its fresh premise and the powerhouse collaboration between two animation giants: Khara (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Sunrise (Mobile Suit Gundam).
Yesterday (May 14), the sixth episode, "Kycilia Assassination Plan," aired, diving deep into the Universal Century 0085 backstory and finally feeling like the main plot was truly taking off. It also featured numerous connections to past Mobile Suit Gundam characters and storylines, instantly making the episode a hot topic.

One particularly subtle detail that eagle-eyed fans spotted was in the character Nian's room. On her bookshelf, titles like "Zeon Institute of Technology" and "Permanent Residency Application" were visible, alongside several manga that mirrored real-world works.
What really blew fans away was how this bookshelf almost perfectly replicated the one previously shown by former Nogizaka46 member Nanase Nishino on a TV program.

And that's not all! Other fans noticed that the banknotes in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX featured the likeness of a young Yoshiyuki Tomino, the "Father of Gundam" himself! This clever design choice earned widespread praise from fans.

Meanwhile, at the school attended by Machuu (Yoha Amano), a bulletin board displayed a paper for the brass band club, listing "Anno-sensei" as the advisor. Naturally, this is a clear nod to none other than Hideaki Anno!

Furthermore, fans also pointed out that the long rifle carried by Sharian Bull in this episode appears to be the same model as Char's, a weapon typically reserved for high-ranking Zeon military officers.

In another scene, a container from a colony air conditioner company featured a mascot strikingly similar to Daikin's "Pippichan" (Little Water Droplet), complete with a logo that bore a strong resemblance to the real-world brand.

▼ Even Daikin's Pippichan tweeted about appearing in Gundam, but lamented not getting an offer! LOL.

And for those with encyclopedic knowledge of Gundam lore, the Side 6 customs officer was recognized by fans as potentially being the same character from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.

Speaking of returning characters, Bask Om and Kati Kapa from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam also made appearances in new forms, characters that any seasoned Gundam fan would surely recognize.

With Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX now well into its mid-season run, the plot's tension and mysteries are only deepening. Fans are undoubtedly glued to their screens, eager to see what kind of Gundam epic Khara and Sunrise will deliver. We'll just have to keep watching to find out how it all unfolds!
