This 'Nausicaä' Ohmu Power Bank Concept Charges Your Phone with Tentacles, And Ghibli Fans Are Absolutely Losing It

Japanese design and creative YouTuber Kazuya Ishikawa (@issikazu20) recently set the internet ablaze after sharing an incredibly imaginative concept on X (formerly Twitter).

Ishikawa unveiled a concept for a portable power bank inspired by the iconic Ohmu from Studio Ghibli's classic animated film, "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind." Not only does it faithfully recreate the Ohmu's distinctive look, but its tentacles cleverly double as USB charging cables, delighting and surprising everyone who saw it.

The coolest feature of this Ohmu power bank concept? Its eyes change color based on its charging status! According to the design sketches, the Ohmu's eyes glow red while charging, then shift to a peaceful blue once fully juiced up – perfectly mirroring the Ohmu's emotional shifts in "Nausicaä." Fans absolutely lost it, with many exclaiming, "This is so cool, I hope it gets made!" and "If this ever comes out, I'm buying it instantly!"

While this remains a concept for now, this ingenious design, blending a beloved Ghibli character with practical functionality, undeniably showcases the enduring love and cleverness of fans.

Ishikawa wrapped up his post by asking, "Who's your favorite Ghibli character?" sparking a flood of enthusiastic responses from netizens. This design not only brought back fond memories of "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" but also proved that Ghibli's magic is truly timeless.
