BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has officially announced today the detailed information for the latest product in its "ENTRY GRADE" series, a lineup of model kits designed for younger audiences and beginners. This new item, "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Wing Gundam," is from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing" and is scheduled for release in October 2025.
The XXXG-01W Wing Gundam is a mobile suit developed by Doctor J based on the data of the Wing Gundam Zero. Piloted by the protagonist, Heero Yuy, it was deployed in "Operation Meteor" against the Earth Sphere Unified Nation (OZ). This mobile suit largely inherits the characteristics of the Wing Gundam Zero, possessing extremely high mobility and the ability to transform into a high-speed "Bird Mode." Its weaponry is also formidable; its main armament, the "Buster Rifle," boasts battleship-class firepower and powerful penetration, causing significant damage to enemy mobile suits in its beam path. To prevent the enemy from acquiring confidential data, a "self-destruct device" was installed.
The "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Wing Gundam" continues the series' style with features like easy assembly, precise part separation, and flexible articulation. It comprises only 95 parts and boasts precise color separation, including molded parts in red, yellow, white, blue, green, and dark gray. This allows for a faithful recreation of its in-series appearance and colors without the need for stickers.
The parts feature a convenient gate design that eliminates the need for tools like nippers; parts can be easily detached by gently pressing them by hand. The assembly design also extensively uses snap-fit structures. Compared to the peg-and-hole joints typically used in Gunpla, this reduces the appearance of seam lines and the risk of parts being difficult to separate if assembled incorrectly, making it easy for model kit beginners to get started.
Once completed, the Wing Gundam boasts a refined design. Its main body's limbs and twin wings on the back can achieve dynamic poses. Signature armaments, the "Buster Rifle" and "Shield," are also included as accessories to recreate cool battle stances.
