"Ka-Chow!" Lightning McQueen returns to the LEGO stage! LEGO will launch the Speed Champions 77255 Lightning McQueen on January 1, 2026, assembled from a total of 270 bricks, with a suggested retail price of US$27.99.
This set, composed of 270 pieces, fully captures Lightning McQueen's signature appearance: the fiery red body, yellow lightning livery, #95 racing number, Rust-Eze advertising decals, and even the classic "Lightyear" lettering printed on the tires. While the body decorations are primarily achieved with stickers, iconic details like the tires feature exclusive printing, enhancing the overall quality. The Speed Champions series is known for its 8-wide body proportion, and this time, Lightning McQueen boasts a dedicated chassis design for the first time, showcasing a structure closer to real race cars, making it impressive for both display and play.
Looking back at the 2011 "Cars" themed 8484 "Ultimate Build Lightning McQueen," its design used large curved pieces and stickers/prints to recreate the signature "eyes + smile" front end, featuring "gold wheel rims." In contrast, the 77255 adopts the Speed Champions series' 8-wide proportion, more faithfully and meticulously recreating Lightning McQueen's appearance, especially with a three-dimensional mouth instead of a sticker! Furthermore, it features a detailed chassis design, a first for the series, with proportions closer to a real car, balancing playability and display. This can be seen as an evolution in style and technical advancement from earlier large-scale models to the display-grade Speed Champions.
