Kenshi Yonezu on "Chainsaw Man – The Reze Arc" Theme Song "IRIS OUT": "I Reverse-Engineered the 'Bang' Sound Effect Right Into the Core!"

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the first theatrical anime film for Tatsuki Fujimoto's hit manga, "Chainsaw Man." Titled "Chainsaw Man – The Reze Arc," the movie is officially set to hit Japanese theaters on September 19, 2025.

Yesterday (September 15), the film held its global premiere in Tokyo, where the music video for the theme song, "IRIS OUT," performed by none other than Kenshi Yonezu, was also unveiled. Yonezu himself shared a video message at the premiere, diving into his creative process and some fun insights behind the theme song and its MV.

In his video message, Kenshi Yonezu expressed his gratitude: "It's a true honor to have created the theme song 'IRIS OUT' and the ending song 'JANE DOE' for 'Chainsaw Man – The Reze Arc.' I recently watched the completed film, and it was incredibly moving. The entire production team poured so much love and respect into the music and the overall work. I'm truly thankful to have been a part of it."

He also highlighted a unique aspect of the "IRIS OUT" music video: "The MV for 'IRIS OUT' actually incorporates footage from the feature film. This idea sparked because the movie's trailer was just so brilliantly made! I instantly thought, 'Why not just use that directly?' Even the vocal sound effects, like 'bang' or 'thump,' landed perfectly in the most impactful moments, giving me a huge burst of inspiration. So, I ended up reverse-engineering those elements right back into the song's audio track. You could say this song was born directly from the inspiration of that trailer, and I'm grateful to the production team for giving me such brilliant ideas to complete the track."

Finally, he urged fans: "I hope everyone enjoys both 'IRIS OUT' and 'JANE DOE' alongside the film."
