Japanese hobby manufacturer MEGAHOUSE has announced the latest release from its popular 『MEGA CAT PROJECT』 series, which transforms iconic characters into cats! Hailing from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the new "Mobile Suit Nyandam☆LUCKYCAT" is scheduled for release in June 2026.
The 『MEGA CAT PROJECT』 is a mini-figure series that combines popular characters from Japanese anime and manga with adorable feline forms. Each character stands approximately 3 cm tall and is designed in collaboration with illustrator TAMPOPO, who specializes in chibi characters and cartoon-style cats. Departing from typical designs where character elements often overshadow the feline features, TAMPOPO's style largely preserves the cat's silhouette, incorporating only the character's signature outfits and accessories. Through clever use of corresponding breeds, fur colors, and expressions, each design masterfully evokes the original character.
The "MEGA CAT PROJECT Mobile Suit Nyandam☆LUCKYCAT" collection is themed around the adorable and auspicious *maneki-neko* (beckoning cat). This set reimagines six iconic Mobile Suits from "Mobile Suit Gundam"—the Gundam, Guncannon, GM, Zaku, Char's Z'Gok, and Zeong—as charming cat figures. Each figure not only includes a unique base, such as a cardboard box or a fishbowl, but also comes with a golden lucky coin inscribed with phrases like "Certain Victory," "Adoration," and "Sincerity" to bring you good fortune!
