From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits, has announced the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz," the "HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW," slated for release in June 2026.
The XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW is the mobile suit piloted by Quatre Raberba Winner, one of the five main protagonists in the series. In terms of setting, the OVA "Endless Waltz" version and the TV version's "Gundam Sandrock Custom" are the same mobile suit. However, the "Endless Waltz" version features a redesigned exterior and armaments by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime, abandoning the TV version's missiles, beam machine guns, and other weapons in favor of simply using two Heat Shotels and Vulcans for combat, while also adding the dramatically cool Anti-Beam Cloak.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW" is produced using Bandai's latest color separation and part division technology. Based on a newly designed Gundam Wing series frame, it meticulously sculpts sophisticated armor details and recreates the magnificent head and shoulder designs in 1/144 scale. The shoulder joints boast a wide range of articulation, allowing for dynamic combat poses with its two massive "Heat Shotels." The mobile suit's most distinctive feature, the "Anti-Beam Cloak," is crafted from a new soft material with textured wrinkles, making it thin, flexible, and freely detachable. Even when covering the entire mobile suit, it maintains excellent poseability.
