Singer Maki Otsuki, whose performance was abruptly cut short last week at the Bandai Namco Carnival in Shanghai, has issued an update. Her official website was refreshed today (December 1st) with a statement from her agency addressing the incident, while Otsuki herself took to Instagram to reassure fans she's safely back in Japan and grateful for their support.

The statement began: "We've received numerous messages of concern regarding the performance cancellation, and we are truly grateful. Beyond the show being halted, there were no other issues on-site; the local staff were incredibly kind and friendly."
It added, "After leaving the stage, Otsuki received much heartwarming encouragement and has safely returned to Japan." Her agency affirmed that she will continue to work hard as always and hopes for continued support from her fans.
Maki Otsuki herself posted on Instagram in both Japanese and English, writing: "I've returned from Shanghai and have received so much love and encouragement from everyone. My only regret is not being able to personally thank those who came to watch and looked forward to my performance that day. Thank you all so, so much!"
She continued, "All I can do is keep using music to deliver my voice to those who need it. I also hope to forge new connections and encounters through singing in the future. Please continue to support me."
Naturally, many fans were displeased with how her performance was handled. The abrupt halt of sound, lights, and even the background screen left not only the performer but also the audience utterly bewildered and understandably upset.
Nevertheless, fans have rallied behind Maki Otsuki, offering encouragement for her safe return and hoping she can perform without such disruptions in the future.
