Filmmaker Taika Waititi, director of the third and fourth installments of the "Thor" franchise, continues to expand his already packed slate. Currently, he has several projects in development, including the sci-fi film "The Incal", an adaptation of Percival Everett's novel "James" (from the author of "American Fiction"), and a new "Judge Dredd" reboot. Now, another project has been added to his busy schedule.

Deadline exclusively reports that Searchlight Pictures has tapped Waititi to direct the film adaptation of the satirical novel "Barn 8." Jessica Gao, the creator and showrunner of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law," is set to pen the screenplay.
"Barn 8" tells the story of two American egg auditors who conspire to steal a million chickens from a factory farm, leading a group of animal rights activists on a chaotic rescue mission. The book's plot blends comedy and tragedy, exploring the conflict between animal welfare and industrialized farming, with some of the narrative perspectives even coming from the chickens themselves.
