World-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys has unveiled a new product based on the 2002 film Spider-Man—the "Spider-Man (Battle Damaged Version)" 1/6th scale collectible figure. It has a suggested retail price of HKD 2,030 and is expected to be released in the first to second quarter of 2027!
This "Spider-Man (Battle Damaged Version)" stands approximately 30 cm tall, meticulously crafted to replicate Spider-Man's iconic battle-damaged appearance from his final showdown with the Green Goblin in the film. The battle-damaged head sculpt faithfully recreates actor Tobey Maguire's distinctive facial features beneath the torn mask and shattered lenses. In addition to the finely painted delicate scars on his face, brown wool material hair is meticulously implanted on the forehead using advanced hair implantation techniques, significantly enhancing the overall realism!
However, the announcement of this figure has sparked considerable controversy, as the battle-damaged mask, crafted from composite materials, and the suit design significantly deviate from their appearance in the film. Specifically, the suit's chest and back emblem sizes suggest it might be based on the design from the second film. While official responses to these concerns are pending, given that the currently revealed images are of a prototype, we anticipate potential adjustments to the final product!
Accessories include five interchangeable hands, a masked head sculpt, six different styles and lengths of web-shooting effects, and a battle-damaged Green Goblin helmet. The diorama base features highly weathered remnants of the Green Goblin's glider, a destroyed brick wall, and a character-specific nameplate, allowing collectors to recreate classic movie scenes with the figure's 30 points of articulation!
