Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya's popular "Frame Arms Girl" plastic model kit series has announced a new product, the "Hagane-Otsu Close Combat Specification," scheduled for release in April 2026.
The Frame Arms "Type 48 Hagane" series, designed by mechanical designer Wataru Inada, is a classic unit that pursues the realism of combat machines and showcases the functional beauty of its various mechanisms. This product has been given a bishoujo (beautiful girl) rendition by Japanese illustrator Do-Yu, embodying Hagane's characteristic super-heavy armor design on an extremely voluptuous new body, and perfectly inheriting its pure and utilitarian weaponry.
The "Frame Arms Girl Hagane-Otsu Close Combat Specification" uses the same completely new body mold as its sister unit "Hagane-Kou," faithfully reproducing the most voluptuous body sculpt in the series' history. It also features a different red and black color scheme, hairstyle, leg length, and hip size. Although there is no movable mechanism inside the chest, two different sized parts are included for replacement. The panty part has a built-in front-to-back rotating axis to allow for forward and backward bending, enabling various natural and cute poses. Accessories include three pre-painted face parts and five pairs of PVC interchangeable hand parts, allowing for delicate emotional and action expressions.
By replacing some parts to equip its full armament, Hagane-Otsu can achieve an armed form that closely reproduces the silhouette of its original machine. It features heavier armor parts than Hagane-Kou. Auxiliary mechanical arms are provided on the wrists and waist for grasping and holding large weapons. The high-speed mobility roller units on the legs and the large skirt armor with two built-in thrusters at the rear of the waist can all be deployed and articulated.
The weapons include the "Prototype Type 3 Battering Ram" and "Large Shield," designed identically to the Frame Arms original. The battering ram boasts an impressive height of approximately 18 cm and features a mechanism for auxiliary arm fixation. The large shield reproduces a design composed of multiple identical parts. Each armor part can be freely detached, attached, and used to adjust the shield's size. It's even possible to attach the armor pieces under the feet to be used as snowshoes for walking on soft snow.
