Kadokawa Japan's plastic model kit series, "KADOKAWA PLASTIC MODEL SERIES (KADOPLA)," has officially announced the latest product from the novel Full Metal Panic! Family, the "1/48 Azur Raven Plastic Model Kit," scheduled for release in August 2026. This product will be released simultaneously in a standard edition and a special edition with more accessories.
The AZUR RAVEN appears in Full Metal Panic! Family, the latest sequel set 20 years after Full Metal Panic!, depicting Sousuke Sagara and Kaname Chidori starting a family. It is set as one of the AS units manufactured by the Sagara family through private channels, a hybrid of the "Type 11" equipped by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and M9 series parts. Its "Agile Thruster" provides hovering capabilities equivalent to a helicopter, and its ECS (Electromagnetic Camouflage System) allows for complete invisibility. It can even activate the "Lambda Driver" with support from the AI "AL" located somewhere on Earth via remote communication. Author Shoji Gatoh stated that this unit might be the strongest among third-generation models.
The "1/48 Azur Raven Plastic Model Kit" is thoroughly supervised by mechanical designer Kanetake Ebikawa. Utilizing molded parts in white, dark gray, dark blue, etc., along with some pre-painted parts, it recreates a highly poseable model approximately 18 cm tall. It features a cool armor silhouette, rich mechanical details, and excellent articulation design, allowing for dynamic combat poses such as shooting, drawing a sword while leaning forward, and high-kneeling shots.
Accessories include mini figures of Sousuke Sagara and Natsumi Sagara; various hand parts such as "fist," "open hand," "open hand (relaxed)," "sword-holding hand," and "gun-holding hand"; as well as weapons like the Type 0 Kai Monomolecular Cutter and the "Boxer2" 76mm Shotgun. These can be stored on the left wrist and rear skirt armor, respectively, or freely repositioned using two universal hardpoints.
The special edition, meanwhile, adds a "Type 10 Kai Monomolecular Cutter Plated Ver." with a silver-plated blade and gold-plated scabbard mouth parts, and a special display base designed by Kanetake Ebikawa, featuring a movable stand and nameplate. The product packaging also includes a special outer box illustrated by Naoki Morishita, capable of holding both the main product packaging and the limited bonus packaging.
Regardless of the version, ordering this product from the KADOKAWA online store will grant you a bonus: one "Boxer2" 76mm Shotgun and two "Boxer2" 76mm Shotgun magazines. The parts are identical to those included with the model.
