Japanese toy company Sentinel (株式会社千値練), in collaboration with renowned Japanese illustrator NakaoTeppei (ナカオテッペイ), is once again releasing the popular second wave of the super popular Sushi Monsters he designed: "Sushi-L.A. SUSHI-L.A. Real Sushi Size Figure Collection 3"! There will be 8 types + 2 secret types, scheduled for release in June 2026.
When a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles was making "extra-large sushi with a generous amount of wasabi," the sushi mutated due to the excessively spicy wasabi, giving birth to the "Sushi Monster - Sushi-L.A." (スシエルエー) with eyes, hands, and feet. As they walk, grains of rice fall from their bodies onto the ground one by one. By the time they take 100 steps, their legs have disappeared, and after dying, they simply become ordinary large sushi.
The sushi topping covering them from head to back can be removed. Depending on the topping, Sushi-L.A.'s personality changes in various ways. If regular-sized sushi gets touched by their weapon, "wasabi liquid," it will be given new life and become a "Sushi Monster" too. However, if their movements are too violent, the "wasabi liquid" will flow from their head throughout their entire body, eventually leading to their demise.
*Note: The original name is SUSHI-L.A. (Japanese: スシエルエー; Chinese pronunciation: Sushi L.A.), but because many classic Japanese monster names often end with "ra" (拉), and its appearance resembles "Godzilla," the Chinese translation adopted "Sushi-ra" to convey this meaning.
The third installment, "Sushi Monster Sushi-L.A. SUSHI-L.A. Real Sushi Size Figure Collection 3," continues the series' style, adopting a 1/1 scale (real sushi size) with a height of approximately 7 cm. Displayed on a sushi plate, they can perfectly transform into sushi, concealing Sushi-L.A.'s identity! This wave includes the heart-eyed Happy Tuna, Happy Shrimp, and two mysterious flavors, as well as Black Tiger Shrimp, Marinated Mackerel, Wasabi Marinated Mackerel, Tamago Sushi (with teardrop-shaped wasabi), and the debut of Octopus and Wasabi Octopus. The cross-section shows a translucent effect, and the octopus tentacles are vividly rendered with striking contrast! The distinct grains of vinegared rice have a crystal-clear luster, and the sushi toppings are also made from transparent materials. The realistic sculpting and painting make the whole thing look both cute and delicious!
