Prime 1 Studio, a Japanese manufacturer of high-quality statues, has officially announced a new addition to its Real Elite Masterline series: the "Mai Shiranui" 1/4 scale statue, based on the game "The King of Fighters '98". The statue will be available in both Regular and Ultimate Bonus versions, with the Ultimate Bonus version limited to 500 pieces. Priced at $999 for the Regular Version and $1,299 for the Ultimate Bonus Version, pre-orders are now open on the Prime 1 Studio official website, with an estimated shipping window of May to August 2027.
Mai Shiranui, a popular female character from SNK's hit fighting game series "The King of Fighters", first appeared in 1992's "Fatal Fury 2". She entered the fight to pursue Andy Bogard, who was training under her grandfather. As a modern kunoichi inheriting the Shiranui-ryu Ninjutsu style, her impressive physique and striking appearance have made her a female character whose popularity rivals that of Chun-Li from "Street Fighter" in the fighting game genre.
This 1/4 scale Mai Shiranui statue stands approximately 70 cm tall and is crafted to the high standards of the Real Elite Masterline series. It captures her dynamic pose, balancing on one leg atop a large ball at the end of a rope. The sculpt showcases her voluptuous yet slender body curves, meticulously recreating realistic skin textures. Her facial features are rendered with sharp, elegant lines, conveying a playful gaze and a subtly charming smile, perfectly capturing her composed and alluring demeanor even in battle.
The exaggerated ties of her red and white ninja outfit, combined with her leaping posture, create a strong sense of dynamism in the overall silhouette. The specially designed base features traditional Japanese aesthetics, with a subdued lacquer-like sheen complemented by cherry blossom petals drifting in the wind and flame effects. This creates a striking contrast with the main figure's passionate and unrestrained presence, adding a calm yet layered visual tension to the entire piece.
The Ultimate Bonus Version includes three interchangeable right arms, one interchangeable right hand, two interchangeable left arms, one interchangeable left hand, and a dedicated background stand. These allow for various display options, such as her attacking pose, swinging her fan forward, or a dynamic, mid-air gliding pose with both arms swept back. Collectors can freely change the display with the included background stand. Furthermore, as an exclusive bonus for the Ultimate Bonus Version, it will also include a limited-edition part featuring both hands holding an unfurled white fan, offering even more posing possibilities.
