The TV anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica," which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, announced a new theatrical film, "Puella Magi Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht: Rising," for its 10th anniversary. However, due to production issues, the film has faced continuous delays. Originally slated for a Winter 2024 release, it was pushed back multiple times, eventually settling on February 2026.
But today (January 23), the official announcement dropped: another delay! A new release date will be announced later, leaving countless fans online crying foul and expressing their frustration with the official team.

The official X post stated: "Regarding the postponement of the theatrical film 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht: Rising.' Originally scheduled for release starting February 2026, the screening schedule will be adjusted due to production reasons. The new release date is expected to be announced separately within February 2026."
The film was initially delayed from Winter 2024 to Winter 2025, then pushed again to February 2026. If it ever makes it to theaters, it will be the first new "Madoka Magica" movie in 12 years and 4 months since "Rebellion" premiered in October 2013. This latest delay, however, has sent fans into a frenzy, with a flood of complaints online, including:
"Another delay, I knew it!", "This announcement came way too late!", "They waited until now to tell us, they really need to reflect on this. At least give us a clear reason!", and "Couldn't they have told us sooner? It's almost February!" The official team's repeated delays and lack of explanation have truly baffled the fanbase.

In fact, late last year, the official team re-edited the "Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings" and "Part 2: Eternal" into an 11-episode TV series as a warm-up for the new film. Various collaborations and mobile games have also been continuously released. Now, with yet another delay, fans are understandably bewildered.
Of course, "Madoka Magica" fans will still eagerly await the film's release. All eyes are now on the official team to see what they'll announce after February.
