The 'MODEROID' series of plastic model kits, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced its latest product from the anime 'ALDNOAH.ZERO', the 'KG-6 SLEIPNIR', slated for release in August 2026.
The KG-6 SLEIPNIR is a Kataphrakt developed by the United Earth Forces 15 years before the start of the story. With the more advanced successor model, the 'KG-7 AREION', becoming the primary combat force, most SLEIPNIR units have been retired and repurposed as training units for high school military courses, painted in the distinctive orange of training machines. This unit features a humanoid structure capable of agile movements, with large stabilizer wings on both sides of its legs allowing for brief low-altitude gliding. The unit can be equipped with a wide array of armaments common to the AREION, including machine guns, rifles, and small missiles.
The 'MODEROID KG-6 SLEIPNIR' has been thoroughly supervised by I-IV, the mechanical designer for the anime. It not only pursues the articulation and styling set in the series but also adds richer detail sculpting to various parts of the unit. The kit is produced using multi-color molded parts in orange, white, gray, and more, along with decals and some pre-painted parts. Once assembled, it stands approximately 15 cm tall, and the decals include unit numbers from 00 to 04 for customizable construction.
The model faithfully recreates the streamlined silhouette of the exterior armor, along with the intricate details on the armor surface and exposed frame. Each joint features flexible articulation, allowing for standing, kneeling, and prone firing poses with various weapons. The large stabilizer wings on both sides of the legs can transform into various forms without the need for part replacement. Armament accessories include a submachine gun, a long rifle, a 203mm grenade launcher, a pistol, and a knife. The submachine gun comes with a detachable grenade launcher part and replicates the magazine removal mechanism, while the bipod on the long rifle can also be deployed.
