KOTOBUKIYA, a Japanese toy company, has announced the latest product in its highly popular original plastic model kit series, 'Frame Arms', the 'Type 70 Model 1 Gourai 2', slated for release in June 2026.
The 'Type 70 Model 1 Gourai 2' is a next-generation model designed by mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase. It inherits elements from the 'Gourai' series, such as its tank-like appearance and heavy armor, and is equipped with armaments including a large cannon, saber, shield gauntlet, and heavy machine gun. It can also transform from robot mode into tank mode.
The 'Frame Arms Type 70 Model 1 Gourai 2' is constructed with entirely new molded parts, reproducing the machine's colors as per its design using multiple molding colors. Once completed, it stands approximately 20 cm tall, featuring rich surface detailing on its armor and track parts, and recreating the heavy texture of each armor section. The unit not only boasts a cool physique and proportions but also incorporates flexible articulated joint designs and a 'tank mode' transformation mechanism.
In robot mode, the main cannon mounted on its back can rotate in multiple directions, and the saber can be stored in its scabbard part. After transforming into tank mode, the upper turret also features a rotating mechanism, capable of recreating the sloped armor angle (lunch angle) that easily causes ricochets when hit.
