KOTOBUKIYA, the Japanese model manufacturer, has announced the latest product in its robot action game "Armored Core" themed plastic model kit series, "V.I.O.S.". The "SCHNEIDER NACHTREIHER/40E Close-Range Assault Type", from "Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon", is scheduled for release in June 2026. This product will be exclusively sold at KOTOBUKIYA SHOP and other official designated retailers.
The new "V.I.O.S." series is an evolution of KOTOBUKIYA's previous "V.I." series, inheriting its characteristics while further enhancing quality. These "Armored Core" plastic model kits feature uncompromising precision sculpting, overwhelming detail in every part, and articulation mechanisms that faithfully pursue in-game settings. They are also presented in a larger scale compared to the "V.I." series. The AC being released this time is the "NACHTREIHER", a corporate standard machine developed by SCHNEIDER, a subsidiary of the Arquebus Group in the game. This is a Close-Range Assault Type, with its arm units replaced by the "VP-46D", which offers both melee and ranged combat suitability, and equipped with the long-range shotgun "SG-027 ZIMMERMAN".
The "V.I.O.S. SCHNEIDER NACHTREIHER/40E Close-Range Assault Type" is a modification based on the previously released "STEEL HAZY". Not only are the armor parts molded in a light gray tone, consistent with the corporate standard machine specifications, but the "VP-46D" arm units and the "SG-027 ZIMMERMAN" long-range shotgun are also reproduced with new parts. The overall design has been thoroughly supervised by the game development team FromSoftware, faithfully recreating the rich details and excellent articulation of the in-game 3D model.
The kit, even when assembled unpainted, largely reproduces its in-game appearance. Once completed, it boasts a large size with a total height of approximately 27 cm, featuring highly detailed armor surfaces rendered in a large scale. The intricate internal frame structure can be seen from the unarmored back and through the gaps in the front armor. By swapping parts, the deployed state of the back core can be recreated. The chest features a pull-out joint articulation design, allowing the upper body to bend significantly forward, enabling dynamic combat poses when combined with the flexible limb joints.
In addition to the new long-range shotgun, accessories also include the burst handgun "MA-E-211 SAMPU" (the same model as STEEL HAZY), the booster "ALULA/21E", and various interchangeable hand parts. The right shoulder plasma missile "Vvc-703PM" can be recreated in its firing state by swapping parts, and the left arm laser blade "Vvc-774LS" can also be displayed in its standby or deployed states by swapping parts. This allows for dynamic and cool combat poses.
The "V.I.O.S." series utilizes common standard joint parts, allowing for free interchangeability of the NACHTREIHER series components and various weapons that make up this unit. This enables the recreation of the game's customizable parts system when combined with future "V.I.O.S." series releases.
