Bushiroad Creative, a Japanese company, is launching a brand new toy label, BushiCap! (ブシカプ！), which integrates gashapon and blind box figures. This February, they are set to release a highly anticipated new series that is generating buzz from its price point to its design concept: the 'Go All Out 100 Yen Series' (やけくそ100シリーズ) 'Sharpen' (研ぐ) gashapon! The price is an almost unbelievable 100 Japanese Yen per capsule in today's market, with a total of nine variations to collect.
The genesis of this project stems from Bushiroad Creative President Kousuke Narita's long-held desire to release 100-yen gashapon in this era. Compared to the editor's childhood, when gashapon cost 30 or 50 NTD per turn, current gashapon prices are no longer an entertainment that children can easily enjoy with their pocket money. This phenomenon is similar in Japan. While there are, of course, countless valid reasons for the increase in gashapon toy prices, President Narita still wanted to go against the current in the 2020s, taking a risk of potential loss to 'go all out' and release a 100-yen gashapon. However, according to President Narita's X (formerly Twitter) account, the 'Go All Out 100 Yen Series' might be a one-time release, with no second installment (laughs).
The 'Go All Out 100 Yen Series Sharpen' is a set of kitchen knife-shaped eraser toys. There are three types: the 'Deba' knife for filleting fish and cutting meat, the 'Santoku' (all-purpose) knife, and the broad-bladed 'Chinese Cleaver'. Each type comes in three color variations: stainless steel gray, steel gray, and eraser white. Collectors can approach these kitchen knife erasers with the serious attitude of a craftsman. Interestingly, the more you erase with these knives, the 'sharper' they become. Using a sharpening motion to erase incorrect strokes or poorly drawn lines will undoubtedly create a rather amusing scene.
