The 'HG (High Grade)' series, known for its comprehensive lineup of mobile suits and faithful recreation of anime designs, produced by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", the "HG 1/144 Gelgoog (GQ)", slated for release in May 2026. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
Appearing in the GQuuuuuuX world, the "gMS-01 Gelgoog" is a new-generation main mass-production mobile suit developed by the Principality of Zeon military after capturing and analyzing data files from the "RX-78-02 White Gundam". Unlike the development history in the main "Mobile Suit Gundam" timeline, it can be described as a "GM developed by the Zeon military", though interestingly, its color scheme remains the same as the Gelgoog from the main timeline. This unit's overall performance surpasses that of the Federation Forces' contemporary mass-production unit, the "Light Cannon", and boasts excellent versatility.
The "HG 1/144 Gelgoog (GQ)" is based on modifications of previously released kits such as the "Sugai's Unit". The main body parts, which showcase designer Ikuto Yamashita's style blending real-world industrial design with sci-fi aesthetics, are fully retained, recreating unique features like the hollowed-out exterior armor and legs with integrated fuel tanks. The molding colors of the parts have been changed to grass green, light gray, and other colors matching the Gelgoog from the main timeline.
The model boasts both high-density detail sculpting and excellent articulation design. The torso, limbs, and the pair of thrusters on the backpack all feature a wide range of motion, allowing for dynamic combat poses from the series to be recreated. For weaponry, it includes two "Beam Spray Guns" that can be stored on the rear skirt armor, and a "Beam Saber" where beam effects can be attached to both the front and back of the hilt. As an original model element, the left arm also comes with a dedicated hand and single-core wire parts of the same specifications as Sugai's unit, enabling the recreation of the left-hand grappling hook launch mechanism.
