Following "Akane Shinjo Chaos New Order feat. saitom" from the new character x artist x figure project "COVERS" series by Japanese figure manufacturer Good Smile Company, the second product from the anime "SSSS.GRIDMAN", "Rikka Takarada & Akane Shinjo feat. toridamono", has been announced for release in February 2027.
Good Smile Company's figure project "COVERS", launched in 2025, brings together multiple illustrators to create characters from various works, infusing them with their unique styles and giving them a charm different from their original designs. These works are then brought to life as high-quality PVC pre-painted finished figures. For this product, renowned artist toridamono, famous for character designs in the "Atelier Ryza" video game series, was invited to illustrate the two highly popular heroines from the anime "SSSS.GRIDMAN", "Rikka Takarada" and "Akane Shinjo".
Both "Rikka Takarada & Akane Shinjo feat. toridamono" figures are crafted in a 1/7 scale with a height of approximately 22 cm. Based on toridamono's original illustration, they faithfully recreate the adorable pose of the two leaning on each other and the overall color palette. The facial features are particularly detailed, capturing their unique expressions, with gradient printing used for the pupil colors, and warm-toned gradients for the eyeliner, blush, and lip contours, faithfully reproducing the charm of the original artwork.
The outfits recreate the soft light and shadow variations from the original artwork through layered delicate shading, intricate wrinkle details, and skirt patterns. Various everyday small objects and items themed after elements from the main series are also placed throughout both figures, such as Akane's tokusatsu and kaiju-related accessories, and Rikka's bear charm, not only showcasing the characteristics of modern high school girls but also connecting them to the world of the series.
The design of their sneakers is an original feature of this product. Rikka's shoes incorporate the imagery and color scheme of Gridman the Hyper Agent, while Akane's utilize elements from the in-series antagonist Alexis Kerib. The soles of both shoes are made with clear parts, and the uppers feature pearl coating, combining realistic texture with sci-fi elements. The accessories also include individual hand parts and display bases, allowing both figures to be displayed separately.
Additionally, Good Smile Company is simultaneously releasing individually sold versions of "Rikka Takarada feat. toridamono" and "Akane Shinjo feat. toridamono", allowing collectors to acquire their favorite character separately.
