The 'MODEROID' assembly model kit series, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced a new product from the classic anime "Makū Senki," which celebrates its 30th anniversary: the "Makū Senki Kazeno-o Second Form," slated for release in September 2026.

Although the TV anime "Makū Senki," broadcast in 1994, shared the same project and Japanese mythology theme as the live-action film "Yamato Takeru" released in the same year, the two works featured entirely different worldviews and plotlines.

The anime's story depicts a 25th century where some Earthlings, using space immigrant ships, arrived at a new world called "Izumo Star," coexisting with the native Izumo people and establishing peaceful villages. However, 12 years later, the Tsukuyomi Army, aiming to revive Orochi and destroy the entire universe, attacked the villages. Amidst the chaos, protagonist Yamato Takeru accidentally discovered the Makū Senki Susano-o, sealed away in a cave. Although he piloted Susano-o to repel the Tsukuyomi Army, he was driven out of the village due to Susano-o's temporary rampage. To thwart Tsukuyomi's ambitions, Yamato Takeru embarked on a journey with Susano-o to collect the Three Sacred Treasures and the Star Souls.

The "MODEROID Makū Senki Kazeno-o Second Form" released this time is the Makū Senki piloted by Kiri-o, the rival character belonging to the Tsukuyomi Army in the series. The kit utilizes molded colors such as blue, yellow, green, and gold, along with some pre-painted parts. Transparent red parts are used in multiple areas, including the spherical cockpit in the abdomen, allowing for a sophisticated and cool appearance close to the show's depiction even with a straight build.

Once completed, it stands approximately 16 cm tall. Its entire body features highly articulated joints that do not compromise the design, allowing for dynamic battle poses with accessories such as interchangeable hand parts, two battle axes, and a special hand part to recreate its finishing move, "Dust Wave."
