BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan is set to release its latest plastic model kit, the "MGSD Destiny Gundam," from the anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" on February 21, 2026. Ahead of its release, official new information including the product box art design and actual sample images has been unveiled.

The ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam is the latest mobile suit developed under the directive of PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal for the Zaft military, prior to their decisive battle with the Earth Alliance. It serves as the successor machine for Zaft pilot "Shin Asuka." Developed based on the Impulse Gundam's design, the Destiny Gundam integrates the equipment of the Force, Blast, and Sword "Silhouette Systems" into a single unit. It also utilizes technologies prohibited by the Junius Treaty, such as the Hyper Duetrion Engine and Mirage Colloid, enabling it to deploy "Wings of Light" for extreme acceleration and scatter Mirage Colloid particles to create afterimages. Its performance significantly surpasses that of second-generation mobile suits like the Impulse Gundam.

The "MGSD Destiny Gundam" condenses the years of technology cultivated in Bandai's 'Master Grade' series into an SD scale. The kit faithfully reproduces the colors of each VPS armor section using a rich variety of molded color parts and precise part separation and color-coding techniques. It also features intricate inner frame and exterior armor detailing. Some inner frame parts utilize "Realistic Metallic Gloss Injection" technology to achieve a metallic texture, while transparent parts for the twin-eye sensors, beam shield generators, and other areas employ "REFLECTION CUT" technology to create a glowing effect.

The entire model features flexible articulation. The neck and torso utilize multi-axis movable designs to achieve a certain degree of forward and backward bending. The wrist beam shield generators have an original movable mechanism to reduce interference with elbow articulation. The legs are equipped with a hip joint swing mechanism and thigh armor interlocking mechanism, which not only expands the leg's range of motion but also allows for natural high-kneeling poses. The backpack wings feature multiple movable axes, allowing them to deploy into a magnificent silhouette.

Weaponry includes the High-Energy Beam Rifle, Anti-Beam Shield, and "Beam Boomerang" which can be detached from the shoulder and fitted with beam effects. The large backpack-mounted weapons, the "Arondight" Beam Sword and High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon, also incorporate original MGSD mechanisms, featuring movable designs for extending the sword tip and deploying the cannon barrel, respectively.

Furthermore, the palm also reproduces the metallic-textured "Palm Cannon" muzzle deployment mechanism, and the wrist "Beam Shield Generator" can be fitted with polarized material beam shield effect parts. Once the backpack wings are fully deployed, a total of four "Wings of Light" effect parts (two for each side) can be attached. When illuminated by a blacklight, not only do the head sensors and cameras reflect green light, but the originally pink Wings of Light and beam effects can also display a cool orange-red glow.
