The popular action figure series "S.H.Figuarts," released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the commercialization of the protagonist, "Shinji Ikari," from the anime series "Evangelion." The release date is yet to be determined.
The protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is the child of NERV Commander-in-Chief Gendo Ikari and his wife, Yui Ikari. At a young age, he witnessed his mother disappear during the activation experiment of "EVANGELION Unit-01." He was subsequently abandoned by his father, whose personality had drastically changed, and sent to live elsewhere. As he grew up, losing family ties and love, he developed a delicate and introverted personality, long feeling worthless and yearning for strong love and care. It wasn't until he was 14 that he was suddenly chosen as the exclusive pilot for "EVANGELION Unit-01," seeing his father again. He found his father's cold attitude difficult to deal with, yet on the other hand, he also wished to pilot the EVA well and gain his father's approval.
The prototype for "S.H.Figuarts Shinji Ikari" is currently on display for the first time at the ongoing "EVANGELION:30+； 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION" event. The product will be crafted in his EVA entry plug suit design, utilizing molded parts and paint application to reproduce the various color blocks and numbers throughout the body. It will also feature a rich design of movable joints, and we can look forward to what interchangeable expressions and accessories will be included with the product.
