World-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys yesterday (25th) announced a new collaboration with DC Comics, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the American comic masterpiece 《Batman: The Dark Knight Returns》 in 2026, with the new "Batman (Battle Damaged Version)" 1/6th scale collectible figure! The suggested retail price is HKD 1,730.
Written and drawn by Frank Miller, 《Batman: The Dark Knight Returns》 is a comic book published by DC Comics in 1986, widely considered one of Batman's most classic stories. Following the death of the second Robin, Batman retired from his work and disappeared for over a decade, now a middle-aged man over fifty, his physical condition far from what it once was. However, due to Gotham City's continuously rising crime rate, Batman decides to return to action, once again stepping forward to confront villains such as the Mutant Gang, Two-Face, and the Joker. At the same time, due to differing stances with Superman, he even has to face off against his almost invincible old friend.....
This Batman figure, fully embodying the powerful physique from the 《Dark Knight Returns》 comic, stands approximately 32 cm tall with 30 points of articulation. He wears a grey-blue toned battle suit and is equipped with a striking yellow utility belt. Hot Toys meticulously crafts realistic battle damage and wounds across the entire body, from the huge claw marks on the chest's Bat-symbol, the damage and wounds on both shoulders, the torn gloves at the knuckles, to the dust-stained hem of the cape, all striving to convey the intensity of the fierce battles the aging Bruce has endured, and how challenging each fight has been.
The head sculpts include two versions: one wearing a blue cowl with greying hair, and an unmasked version. The cowled version can be paired with three interchangeable lower face parts: closed mouth, roaring, and blood-stained gritted teeth. The unmasked head sculpt features deep wrinkles and no shortage of facial wounds, further allowing for rich expressions with its movable eyeballs. Accessories include a sniper rifle, a Batarang (with rope), four Batarangs, multiple interchangeable hands, and a specially designed figure base.
