Japanese toy company Kotobukiya has announced its latest product from "The King of Fighters '98": the "Kyo Kusanagi THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 Ver." 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted complete figure! The suggested retail price is 22,000 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in September 2026.
Kyo Kusanagi, the protagonist of "The King of Fighters" series, is a descendant of the Kusanagi clan, one of the Three Sacred Treasures responsible for sealing the Orochi clan, specifically wielding the Kusanagi Sword. He is the generational rival of the Yagami clan. Kyo utilizes the Kusanagi-ryu ancient martial arts, capable of manipulating pure crimson flames, symbolized by the blazing sun. Possessing extraordinary talent in martial arts, it is said that by age 15, his strength already surpassed that of his father, Saishu, and by 18, he had won the All-Japan Different Martial Arts Championship.
Kotobukiya's "Kyo Kusanagi THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 Ver." 1/8 scale figure stands approximately 25.6 cm tall. It faithfully recreates the handsome face of Kyo Kusanagi, the inheritor of the Kusanagi-ryu ancient martial arts, with a confident smile, perfectly showcasing Kyo's iconic style as he wields his flames. Even through his white T-shirt, his well-defined muscular physique is clearly visible, and the intricate texture and wrinkles of his clothing are meticulously rendered. The flame effect on his fingers is detachable, allowing for two different display options.
Pre-ordering at the Kotobukiya official store includes an exclusive bonus: an "interchangeable expression part" to recreate his shouting, powerful demeanor!
