The popular special effects and monster-themed soft vinyl toy series "MOVIE MONSTER", released by Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the movie "Godzilla vs. Biollante", the "MOVIE MONSTER GIGA Biollante", scheduled for release on March 14, 2025.
The popular monster Biollante appeared in the 1989 film "Godzilla vs. Biollante". It is one of the few monsters in the Godzilla series that was accidentally created artificially, and also the largest in size and required the most human operators to portray. In the film, Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, an authority in genetic engineering, combined his deceased beloved daughter Erika's cells with her favorite rose to ensure her genetic immortality. When the experiment failed and the rose was on the verge of wilting, he added Godzilla's "G-cells", which possess self-regenerative capabilities. This caused the rose to continuously evolve, eventually becoming the ferocious plant beast "Biollante", reaching a total length of 120 meters.
The new product line "GIGA" (戲華, pronounced 'Xihua', a pun on GIGA meaning 'gigantic' and also implying 'gorgeous colors') features a "Biollante" with an overall size similar to the "MOVIE MONSTER Godzilla (1989)", boasting a powerful length of approximately 39 cm. Additionally, the coloring addresses areas that typical MOVIE MONSTER products cannot express, using an orange-red gradient paint application to recreate the glowing texture of the abdominal core.
