Produced by Japan's PLEX company and distributed by X-PLUS company, the soft vinyl model series themed around Toho's special effects monsters, 'Toho 30cm Series', has announced the latest product from "Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS", the "Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2003)", scheduled for release in June 2026. This product will be simultaneously released in a general retail version and limited editions sold exclusively at official stores "Shonen RIC" and "GODZILLA STORE".
In the previous film, "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla", during the confrontation with Kiryu (Mechagodzilla Type-3), Godzilla sustained a chest injury from a close-range hit by Kiryu's most powerful weapon, the "Absolute Zero Cannon", and subsequently retreated to the depths of the Pacific for recovery. After a year of dormancy, Godzilla once again landed in Japan, influenced by the "First Generation Godzilla's skeleton" used in Kiryu's central structure, and engaged in a decisive battle with Kiryu and Mothra in Tokyo.
The "Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2003)" is based on the GK product prototype released by Yuji Sakai Modeling Workshop in 2004. The prototype was first wax-molded and then re-created into a metal mold for producing soft vinyl products, allowing the final product to largely reproduce the rich detailed sculpting of the original prototype.
The design of this Godzilla (2003) is inspired by the intense battle scene with Mothra in the film, recreating its fierce expression and upward gaze towards Mothra. It meticulously reproduces the cool head sculpt characteristic of this Godzilla version, its sharp and massive dorsal fins, and the scar on its chest left by the "Absolute Zero Cannon". With an imposing size of approximately 30cm in height and 50cm in length, it showcases Yuji Sakai's masterful sculpting skill.
This product also offers two limited editions sold exclusively on the Shonen RIC and GODZILLA STORE websites. The "Shonen RIC Limited Edition" features a built-in LED light-up mechanism, allowing the dorsal fins to glow blue when powered by USB. The "GODZILLA STORE Limited Edition", on the other hand, features a special paint application with an orange hue sprayed on the right half of its body, depicting the scene of the setting sun shining upon it.
