The highly popular "Machibouke" (literally, "Waiting") toy series, released by GASHAPON, the capsule toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., is set to release a new gashapon combining classic Japanese folklore in the first week of this March: the "Momotaro in Waiting" (Machibouke Momotaro no Baai) gashapon! The suggested retail price is 300 Japanese Yen per capsule, with a total of five styles to collect.
From the large peach encasing Momotaro, the animal companions Momotaro befriended with kibi dango along the way, to the red oni on Onigashima, they are all here, waiting for you! The large peach not only features a rosy gradient color but also has cute little hands and feet, and GASHAPON thoughtfully even provided a cushion for the peach to sit on. The three animals – the white dog, monkey, and pheasant – all wear headbands on their foreheads, symbolizing Momotaro's companions. The red oni, measuring 5.3 cm, is the most substantial piece in this collection. In addition to its meticulously sculpted muscular physique, its horns, sharp teeth, thick bushy eyebrows, and leopard print shorts are all faithfully reproduced, and it even comes with a kanabō! I really want the red oni!
