Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya's new original plastic model kit series "Megalo Maria" has announced its latest product, "Kagari Maria [Battle Attire]", scheduled for release in July 2026.
The protagonist of the popular hero show "Megalo Maria", Kagari Maria, is a character portrayed by the talented third-year Momozakura High School student, Kuon Yakushiji. In the show, she is a "TRIGGER" with special abilities, capable of transforming herself for combat and summoning an "ANOTHER" from within to fight alongside her.
The series' first TRIGGER character, "Kagari Maria [Battle Attire]", is being released as a flagship product. It features newly designed soft skirt parts, pre-painted movable eye face parts, and a newly designed hip joint articulation mechanism called "MARIA SWING". Once assembled, the body boasts an impressive 81 points of articulation, with almost every hair part independently movable, allowing for precise adjustments across multiple body parts to achieve extremely dynamic poses.
The newly designed soft skirt parts are made from four ultra-thin pieces, each less than 0.2mm thick, and feature double-sided color printing to minimize interference with leg articulation. Furthermore, the skirt can be removed along with the waist armor parts, allowing for a lightweight state that fully liberates lower body articulation. This is where the "MARIA SWING" articulation mechanism truly shines, granting independent movement to the left and right hip parts, fully showcasing her beautiful body curves.
The head comes with two pre-painted expression parts: a normal face and a shouting face, as well as an optional masked face resembling an ANOTHER. Each face features a movable eyeball mechanism, allowing you to change the direction of the eyes using the included specialized tool. The eyeball parts are produced using UV printing technology, which not only achieves delicate color separation for the iris but also provides a glass-like luster to the transparent coating on the eyeball surface.
