『ENTRY GRADE』, the assembly model series from Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company under its BANDAI HOBBY brand, designed for younger audiences and beginners, has announced the latest product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam', the '1/144 Wing Gundam [Ukiyo-e Package Ver.]', slated for release in August 2026.
Following the broadcast of last year's NHK Taiga drama 'The Daring Rogue ~Tsutaju's Story of Fleeting Prosperity~', topics related to Ukiyo-e have once again garnered significant attention. The protagonist of the drama, Tsutaya Juzaburo, was not only the most influential publisher of literary and visual art works during Japan's Edo period but also fostered several Ukiyo-e masters, including Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai's 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji', already considered a masterpiece of Ukiyo-e and created in his later years, has seen even greater popularity and is now being integrated with a Gundam model product.
The Gunpla kit serving as the base for this release is the 'ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Wing Gundam', released in 2025. This kit features easy assembly, precise part separation, and flexible articulation. Its gate design allows parts to be easily snapped off by hand without the need for nippers, making the assembly process simpler and safer. With only 95 parts in total, it boasts precise color separation, including molded parts in red, yellow, white, blue, green, and dark gray, allowing for a significant recreation of the in-show appearance and colors without the need for stickers.
Unlike the regular version, this product features a special Ukiyo-e style outer box and decals, adapted from 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji'. Not only does it depict Wing Gundam alongside an eagle perched on a pine branch at the foot of Mount Fuji, but cool eagle-themed special decals can also be applied to the inner sides of its wings. The box also features a Mount Fuji-shaped logo, paying homage to the 'Tsutaya' trademark, brimming with rich Japanese-style elements.
