Nintendo's latest release, "Pokémon Pokopia," has quickly captivated both the gaming community and the market since its launch. Not only did physical copies sell out across most retailers, but the game also triggered a significant rebound in Nintendo's stock price. Foreign media reports indicate that after several months of decline, Nintendo's shares began to recover following the game's debut.
According to a Bloomberg report, "Pokémon Pokopia" launched on March 5, 2026, to an enthusiastic market reception. The game garnered high praise from players and critics shortly after release, and its physical "Game Key Card" version quickly sold out at most retailers, signaling robust market demand.

The report noted that prior to the game's launch, Nintendo's stock experienced a significant downturn. After peaking at 14,105 yen per share on November 6, 2025, the stock steadily declined to 8,350 yen on February 13, 2026, a drop of over 40%. However, with the release of "Pokémon Pokopia" and its positive reception, the stock began to recover.
Data shows that Nintendo's stock briefly rose to 9,120 yen after the game's release, then further climbed to 10,075 yen, marking a single-day increase of 10.4%. It ultimately closed that day at 9,932 yen.
Market analysts have also observed this shift. Analyst Atul Goyal pointed out that with the success of "Pokémon Pokopia," the market momentum for Nintendo Switch 2 is "accelerating." It is widely believed that the game's critical acclaim and strong sales performance are helping to boost player interest in the console platform.

However, Nintendo's stock price has not yet returned to its previous highs. Foreign media noted that the initial launch of the Switch 2 in August 2025 had driven the stock to an all-time high of 14,795 yen, but as market enthusiasm gradually cooled, the stock also pulled back.
Furthermore, Nintendo still faces several potential challenges, including a global memory supply shortage. If the prices of these components continue to rise, it could increase console production costs, thereby impacting the company's profitability.
Despite the impressive performance of "Pokémon Pokopia," the market generally believes Nintendo needs to release more major first-party titles in 2026 to maintain platform momentum. Currently known key new releases include "Fire Emblem: Myriad Threads" (ファイアーエムブレム 万紫千紅), but players are still eager for a brand-new 3D "Mario" game or a significant announcement related to "The Legend of Zelda" series' 40th anniversary.
Analysts suggest that while "Pokémon Pokopia"'s success offers a short-term boost for Nintendo, whether it can sustain stock price and console sales growth in the future will depend on its upcoming game lineup and market strategy.
