BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest additions to its popular assembly model Shokugan series, "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT," with the spin-off series "Storage Collection 02" and "Storage Collection EX02" slated for release in August 2026.
The "SMP Storage Collection" series is a new line that further simplifies past SMP products. Each robot character is produced in a uniform 80mm size with a basic standing pose, and the number of parts has been significantly reduced to shorten assembly time. However, this also means the removal of the multiple molded colors and articulated joints found in standard SMP products. Each part of the machine uses a single molded color, such as dark blue or off-white. Only the EX versions, sold exclusively on PREMIUM BANDAI, will include additional parts like weapons and pose-changing components.
The general release version, "SMP Storage Collection 02," features three Sentai robots from the Tokusatsu series "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger": Gaoking, Gaohunter, and Gaomuscle. Each machine is available in two versions, light orange and bright pink transparent yellow, making a total of 6 types to collect. The overall part count has increased by 42% compared to the first wave. Not only do they meticulously recreate the detailed sculpts of the Power Animals, but they also reproduce the arm part exchange mechanism for mix-and-match combinations seen in the show.
Meanwhile, the "SMP Storage Collection EX02," sold exclusively on PREMIUM BANDAI, bundles the three machines molded in a metallic black finish. This EX version adds exclusive weapons: Gaoking's "Fin Blade" and Gaohunter's "Alligator Blade," as well as lower body replacement parts that transform from Gaorhinoceros and Gaoarmadillo, allowing for the recreation of "Soccer Gaoking" and "Soccer Gaomuscle."
