The popular articulated figure series "S.H.Figuarts," produced by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of BANDAI SPIRITS, has announced the latest product from the anime series Rebuild of Evangelion: "Shinji Ikari." It is scheduled for release in November 2026.
The protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is the child of NERV Supreme Commander Gendo Ikari and his wife, Yui Ikari. At a young age, he witnessed his mother disappear during the activation experiment of "EVANGELION Unit-01" and was subsequently abandoned by his cold, distant father to live elsewhere. Growing up without family bonds or love led him to develop a fragile and introverted personality, constantly feeling worthless while yearning for affection and care. It wasn't until he was suddenly chosen at age 14 to be the exclusive pilot of "EVANGELION Unit-01" that he saw his father again. While struggling to handle his father's cold attitude, he simultaneously sought to pilot the EVA well to earn his father's recognition.
"S.H.Figuarts Shinji Ikari" is crafted in his iconic Plugsuit worn while piloting the EVA. The figure utilizes both part-molding colors and detailed paintwork to reproduce the various color blocks and numbers on the suit. The articulation points continue the design language of the Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami series entries, providing the torso and limbs with flexible movement without compromising the sculpt. It comes with a hexagonal dedicated base in a transparent purple EVA-01 color to assist in various poses, and a replacement part for the back is included to accommodate standard 3mm peg stands.
Accessories include four expression parts: "Standard Face," "Clenched Teeth Face," "Shouting Face," and "Blushing Face," along with 3 pairs of interchangeable hands. These allow fans to recreate the desperate and intense expressions seen during frantic EVA piloting. Alternatively, it can be paired with the separately sold "S.H.Figuarts Rei Ayanami" to recreate the iconic scene from the end of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone where he delivers the famous line, "All you have to do is smile."
