Netflix's live-action adaptation of the iconic manga, "City Hunter," dropped to rave reviews worldwide. Fans especially couldn't get enough of Ryohei Suzuki's portrayal of Ryo Saeba, hailing it as the definitive令和-era take on the character.
Fast forward two years since its release, and now "XYZ" message boards have mysteriously popped up again in Shinjuku. With Netflix having teased fans with a series of cryptic puzzles on their official X account since February, the internet is buzzing with one burning question: Is this a hint that a sequel is on the way? The speculation has absolutely exploded online!

Netflix kicked off the mind games over a month ago. On February 26, their official X account dropped a super cryptic math problem out of nowhere:
The conditions: "y
It looks tough at first glance, but if you break down the conditions, you can solve it: x=3, y=2, z=6. Which, if you connect the dots, points to "March 26." In other words, the puzzle was subtly hinting: "Something's happening on March 26!"

Then, after a month of radio silence, Netflix posted another intriguing message on March 23: "Something seems to have changed on a certain message board in Shinjuku...?"
They even included a photo of "City Hunter's" iconic "XYZ message board" (the one where Ryo Saeba gets his commissions), but the background was conveniently blurred, keeping the exact location a secret.
One eagle-eyed netizen actually went to investigate and found the spot: the "Metro Promenade," an underground passage connecting JR and the subway on the east side of Shinjuku Station. While it's just a poster and not a physical message board, seeing that "XYZ" still hits different!

A closer look reveals a few key details: the number "2" next to "NETFLIX" in the bottom right corner, strongly hinting at a "sequel = Part 2." Above "XYZ," there's also a doodle that looks like a QR code, but it doesn't actually scan—likely a deliberate tease. It makes you wonder: Is this just a fun gag, or a genuine Easter egg?

All in all, while it's hard to say if this is just a clever marketing stunt, it definitely feels like they're building up to that crucial "March 26" date. As for whether a "City Hunter" sequel is actually coming, we'll just have to wait and see what Netflix drops then!
