"The Irregular at Magic High School," based on the popular light novel series, is getting a new theatrical anime film! Following last year's third season, the highly anticipated "Yotsuba Succession Arc" from the original story is officially being adapted for the big screen, marking the franchise's second movie.
During today's (3/29) Anime Japan 2026 event, the official trailer and a stunning third key visual were unveiled. Even more exciting, superstar LiSA is back to perform the new theme song, "YES"! Mark your calendars: the film hits theaters on May 8, 2026.
The "Yotsuba Succession Arc" is a pivotal storyline from the original novels, first serialized in May 2015, covering a major event in the second school year. It kicks off when Miyuki Shiba receives an invitation from the main Yotsuba family to attend the "Keishun-kai" gathering – a reunion where the next head of the Yotsuba clan will be revealed.
As the most likely candidate for the family head, Miyuki faces a tough choice: accepting the role would elevate her brother Tatsuya's status, but it would also mean marrying someone chosen by the family. Back at the main estate, the siblings find themselves navigating an unpredictable and volatile situation.

Fans familiar with the series probably aren't surprised by this development, but adapting this arc directly into a feature film clearly shows how much the creators value and anticipate this storyline. As the second movie in the franchise, it's undoubtedly a huge deal for fans!
The film premieres on May 8, 2026. Given that the previous movie, "The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars," was released in 2017, fans can definitely hope for an international theatrical release!
