The "Portrait.Of.Pirates" (P.O.P) brand, a powerful figure series based on "One Piece" and released by Japan's Megahouse Corporation, is celebrating its 20th anniversary by launching a new series, "Evolutionary History," which combines P.O.P's accumulated history with the latest technology. The first product in this new series, the "Monkey D. Luffy Gear Five" pre-painted figure, has been officially unveiled. It has a suggested retail price of 22,000 JPY and is scheduled for release in October 2026!
Luffy's Gear Five form first appeared in anime episode 1071. It is the awakened form of the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit originally thought to be the Gum-Gum Fruit, which Luffy awakened when he was pushed to the brink against Kaido in the Wano Country Arc. This form allows him to fight freely like a cartoon character and imbues surrounding objects with rubbery properties. It is called the "most ridiculous ability" by the Five Elders and is also regarded as the embodiment of freedom!
Following the previous "WA-MAXIMUM Monkey D. Luffy Gear Five," this new P.O.P rendition of Gear Five, standing approximately 26 cm tall, captures Luffy in an even more unrestrained and dynamic pose. The arm gesture, extending backward and looping over his head, combined with the substantial smoke effect supporting the main body, perfectly embodies the characteristics of Gear Five. The sculpting meticulously reproduces the abdominal muscle lines and the intricate folds of his clothing. The smooth, rubber-like texture of his arms is also exquisitely recreated. Coupled with sophisticated shading and painting, it flawlessly conveys the immense power of the Nika form! Furthermore, it can be displayed alongside the previously revealed "Jewelry Bonney The Freest Future" to recreate the iconic scene from Egghead Island!
