The 23rd installment in the "Pretty Cure" franchise, "Detective Pretty Cure!", has been making waves since its broadcast. Its unique blend of time-travel to 1999 and detective elements, coupled with successful character designs, instantly made it a hot topic.
Today (4/5), the official announcement dropped: a movie adaptation is confirmed! "Movie Detective Pretty Cure!" is set to hit theaters across Japan on September 18, 2026. A teaser PV and key visual were also unveiled, though the official movie title has yet to be revealed.
While the series is only ten episodes in and many character mysteries remain unsolved, the newly released key visual centers around a "Sun Catcher" (サンキャッチャー). It refracts sunlight into a dazzling, dreamlike sparkle, hinting at a crucial plot device.
The visual features Akeshi Anna / Cure Enigma, Kobayashi Mirai / Cure Mystery, the still-mysterious Mori Aruruka / Cure Obscura from the main anime, and the unidentified Cure Sparkle. Peeking from the side are Jet (ジェット), Pochitan (ポチタン), Mashutan (マシュタン), and Shushutan (シュシュタン), adding to the lively atmosphere. How these four Pretty Cures will interact and what they'll bring to the screen has everyone buzzing with anticipation!
Plus, the back of the movie flyer will feature a coloring page, a perennial favorite among kids, set to be distributed sequentially at theaters across Japan starting April 10.
The teaser video kicks off with Mirai exclaiming, "Anna! Big news!!" followed by three clues for Anna to deduce, culminating in the big reveal: "It's getting a movie!" It's a perfect teaser, building excitement for the movie's new mysteries.
