The latest installment in the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" anime series, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run," dropped its first episode on Netflix back on March 19th. Despite being a single episode, the stellar production quality immediately won over fans, leaving everyone hyped for what's next.
While only one episode initially aired, it was confirmed at Anime Japan 2026 in late March that more episodes were still in production and slated for release this year. Now, today (April 6th), the official Netflix Anime X (formerly Twitter) account has delivered some exciting news: the series is set to return in Fall 2026 with weekly episode drops! Fans are encouraged to look forward to the exquisite production.
The official announcement, released in both English and Japanese, stated:
Thank you for your continued support for the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run" anime! Production is currently ongoing, and to ensure everyone can fully enjoy the entire story, the series will be broadcast using a "split-cour" method.
The upcoming new season (the next cour) will begin in Fall 2026, with weekly episodes available for global exclusive early distribution on Netflix. This broadcast method was planned from the very beginning and aligns with the production committee's policy. The team is currently working hard on the "2nd STAGE" set to launch this fall, so please continue to show your support!
For fans, this at least confirms the possibility of weekly updates for the next cour, which is a huge win! However, the official announcement didn't specify how many episodes each cour will contain. We'll have to keep an eye on the production details to get a clearer picture once the broadcast begins.
Based on a previous interview with anime director Taiji Kimura , it's clear the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run" animation team has poured immense effort into this 1890s horse-racing themed "JoJo" masterpiece. The meticulous production truly showcases their dedication, a stark contrast to previous "JoJo" titles on Netflix that typically dropped all at once.
Exact release dates are still pending an official announcement, so fans will need to hold tight just a little longer!
