The animated miniseries "Marvel Zombies," which spun off from "What If…?" Season 1, Episode 5 to forge its own storyline, launched on Disney+ last year. While audience reception was generally positive-to-average, not quite outstanding, its viewership numbers were clearly strong enough for Marvel Studios and Disney to greenlight a renewal. Marvel's Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, recently revealed that "Marvel Zombies" Season 2 is already officially in production.

In a recent interview with The Escape Pod, Winderbaum stated, "I don't think this is a spoiler, but I watched the first animation preview for the first episode of 'Marvel Zombies' Season 2 this morning, and it was insane. I can't reveal too much, but it not only has zombie elements but also incorporates elements never before seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, elements we are very eager to bring to life." While an official renewal announcement has yet to be made, the arrival of Season 2 is now a certainty.
