Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced a brand new collaboration product, "FRAME ARTIST Snow Miku," from its original "Frame Arms" model kit series and the popular virtual singer "Hatsune Miku," slated for release in August 2026.
Snow Miku is an ambassador promoting winter tourism in Hokkaido, accompanied by her adorable Ezo snow rabbit pet, "Rabbit Yukine." Originating from the "Hatsune Miku Snow Sculpture" created for the 2010 Sapporo Snow Festival, Crypton Future Media, Inc., the company that planned and developed Hatsune Miku and other Character Vocal series voice synthesis software, is also based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Since then, Hokkaido hosts the annual "SNOW MIKU" festival (in conjunction with the Sapporo Snow Festival), where costume designs are solicited online each year based on different themes.
"FRAME ARTIST Snow Miku" is a modification based on the Hatsune Miku version released in 2022. The overall design, crafted by mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase, presents a brand new mecha-girl style. The kit features high-density engraved details and articulated armor separation on the exterior armor parts, while the mechanical face with large eyes conveys an inorganic aesthetic. The parts' molded colors have also been revised to light blue, dark blue, and white, distinct from the original Hatsune Miku, and it includes decals with snowflake patterns and other markings to recreate Snow Miku's classic color scheme.
The skirt features an articulation mechanism to expand the range of motion for the legs. The large twin-tails on both sides conceal thrusters and can unfold into three sections. The sleeves on both arms can also replicate the deployed state of their internal thrusters by swapping parts. Accessories include a microphone and microphone stand, multiple pairs of PVC molded hands, and one pre-painted "singing face" expression part for the original Snow Miku, which is interchangeable. The peg design for the expression parts is the same as the "FRAME MUSIC GIRL" series, allowing for interchangeability with previously released Hatsune Miku series products.
