SEGA Prize, a brand under the Japanese game company SEGA, announced a new product in their 2026 new release preview on their official X account: a 'Rei Ayanami' figure from 'Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition' as part of their Yumemirize series. This series embodies the concept of "dreams coming true," bringing characters to life with exquisite and dreamlike poses and designs!
Rei Ayanami, the pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, is the heroine designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who was responsible for EVA's character designs. Sadamoto-sensei based her on a character from his previous manga work, 'Koto no Oni' (孤島の鬼), and drew her according to Anno's script prompts. In Anno's vision, she represents the unconscious part of Shinji's mind and is one of the objects of Shinji's Oedipus complex.
This "Rei Ayanami Swimsuit Ver." features Rei Ayanami in a seated pose, wearing a one-piece swimsuit and a sun protection jacket. The figure utilizes molded skin tones with pink airbrushing to recreate the texture of her hands and fair thighs. The jacket is crafted from a semi-transparent material, giving the impression of being wet while allowing the school swimsuit underneath to appear alluringly translucent. The name tag on the swimsuit's chest is printed with 'Ayanami,' and combined with her ethereal gaze, it perfectly captures Rei Ayanami's summer look!
