The popular tokusatsu and kaiju-themed soft vinyl toy line "MOVIE MONSTER SERIES," released by the Japanese toy company Bandai, has announced the latest product from the Godzilla film Godzilla vs. Hedorah: "MOVIE MONSTER SERIES Action Godzilla (1971) Hedorah Repelling ver." This item is scheduled for release on April 11, 2026, and will be sold exclusively at the official Godzilla specialty shop, GODZILLA STORE.
Godzilla vs. Hedorah, released in 1971, is the 11th film in the Godzilla series. The story focuses on the "environmental pollution" crisis of the era, depicting the showdown between humanity, Godzilla, and the Smog Monster, "Hedorah." Produced under challenging circumstances—including the passing of special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, the departure of many key Toho staff members, and a low production budget—the film possesses a unique, experimental "off-color" vibe. Director Yoshimitsu Banno integrated social phenomena and themes such as "psychedelic culture" and "youth identity," and even incorporated innovative hand-drawn animation styles and a gravity-defying Godzilla flight sequence that would leave even Newton scratching his head.
"MOVIE MONSTER SERIES Action Godzilla (1971) Hedorah Repelling ver." stands approximately 15.5 cm tall. It brings to life the moment from the film where Godzilla, after repelling Hedorah, rips out two cores from its body. The sculpt faithfully reproduces the characteristic large-headed suit design and human-like proportions of that era's Godzilla. The paintwork beautifully captures the pearl-like luster of the two cores held in his hands.
