The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company has announced the latest product in its "HG (High Grade)" robot model kit series, the "HG 1/144 D-Seerd" from the anime "Heavy Metal L-Gaim", slated for release in September 2026. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The B-class Heavy Metal D-Seerd is a mass-produced unit redesigned by the rebels based on the L-Gaim. Approximately 80% of its parts are interchangeable with the L-Gaim, and it is equipped with powerful power launchers, shields, and other armaments of the same specifications as the L-Gaim. Theoretically, this achieved reduced production costs while possessing top-tier performance among B-class Heavy Metals. However, initially, due to a shortage of technicians and poor production environments, the first batch of A-type D-Seerds suffered from low part precision and insufficient performance. It was not until the subsequent improved B-type and C-type models that their original performance could be fully realized.
The main body of the "HG 1/144 D-Seerd" is made with entirely new parts, precisely recreating the red armor, which is similar to the L-Gaim but with completely different details, using modern-level precise color separation and part division techniques. The head sensor and the yellow areas on the waist are represented by silver foil stickers and plastic stickers, respectively, giving it a refined and cool silhouette. The product packaging will also feature a newly drawn full-color illustrated outer box.
Each part of the entire unit is also equipped with articulation mechanisms to recreate in-show actions. Not only does it achieve flexible movable joints for the body and limbs, but the back thrusters can deploy their side wings. The power pipe parts on the wrists and legs are made of soft plastic material, which minimizes interference with articulation. When the rear armor of the calves expands, it can even interlock with the internal hydraulic rod structure. Armament accessories include a power launcher, a power launcher energy cable made of soft material, two sabers, a shield, S-mines, and more, allowing for various battle scenes.
