Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced that the latest product in their popular mecha girl plastic model series, "Frame Arms Girl," the "GRAND SCALE Magatsuki [Kikka]," is scheduled for release in August 2026.
The prototype for Frame Arms Girl Magatsuki originates from the "Frame Arms" series, specifically the "NSG-Z0 Magatsuki," a base defense Frame Arms used by the lunar faction. Designed by illustrator ToMo, its distinctive feature is its samurai armor-like additional armor, equipped with the "TENKAI" odachi and "SATUGA" wakizashi armaments. After being bishoujo-fied by illustrator Eiji Komatsu, it inherits this additional armor and the odachi and wakizashi armaments. The base body is designed as a Japanese-style bishoujo with long black straight hair, incorporating elements of Japanese Shinto (mythology) into her attire. The pure white color scheme of the identical model, Magatsuki [Kikka], further enhances the kunoichi image of the base body.
The "Frame Arms Girl GRAND SCALE Magatsuki [Kikka]" is a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. The 3DCAD files used for the original product have been redesigned, not only enlarging the overall size to a total height of 25 cm but also increasing the number of part divisions and color separation areas, resulting in higher quality and completeness. The special decals that reproduce the golden Kikka (orange blossom) pattern on the armor have also been scaled up. However, the short hair, non-mechanical bangs, and shuriken included with the standard edition are not included with this product, in contrast to the previously released "GRAND SCALE Magatsuki," which only differed in part molding color and golden floral pattern decals.
The movable joints also feature pull-out designs for the chest and shoulder joints, while the hip utilizes a sliding mechanism in conjunction with pull-out joints within the thighs. The hands are connected via ball joints. These features, combined with three pre-painted face parts—"Normal Face," "Injured Face," and "Worried Face"—and five pairs of PVC-molded hands, allow for posing Magatsuki in various cute and cool stances.
Utilizing the common 5mm joint points on various parts, the base body can be equipped with a wealth of armor parts, recreating either the "Armed Form" resembling a samurai in armor or the lightly armored "Kunoichi Form." Transparent armor parts are reproduced using clear plastic, featuring internal mechanical details sculpted on the inner surface. The helmet includes two horn styles: the large horns from the original design and smaller horns suitable for the light armor. Accessories include two sets each of the dedicated weapons, the "TENKAI" odachi and "SATUGA" wakizashi, allowing for both sheathed and drawn states without needing to swap parts.
