TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has officially announced the latest addition to its popular S.H.Figuarts articulated figure series: Dark Zagi from the Tokusatsu series "Ultraman Nexus," slated for release in January 2027.
The malevolent god of destruction, Dark Zagi, stands as a dark giant, a formidable rival to Ultraman Noa. Originally conceived by the alien "Visitors" as an artificial ultimate weapon, modeled after Noa to combat the Space Beasts, Zagi instead developed a twisted self-awareness during its evolution. It became a terrifying entity that dominated the Space Beasts. In a desperate attempt, the helpless Visitors detonated their homeworld, but Dark Zagi was not destroyed. Instead, it was accidentally transported to the "M78" world, home of the Land of Light. There, it led an army of monsters to assault the Ultra Brothers, and after an intense battle with Ultraman Noa, it was sealed and returned to its original dimension. Despite the destruction of its physical form, Zagi remained undying, lying dormant on Earth, awaiting an opportunity for revival.
The S.H.Figuarts Dark Zagi figure boasts a sculpt meticulously supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LSS sculpting division. Its body incorporates numerous parts identical or similar to those found on "Ultraman Noa," effectively highlighting its 'replica' nature. New sculpts and paint applications accurately depict its wingless back and the striking crimson patterns that differentiate it from Noa on its jet-black body. The figure features highly flexible articulated joints throughout, engineered to minimize unsightly gaps. Its elbow joints utilize a pull-out mechanism, significantly increasing their bending range. Furthermore, the rib cage arch components on the lower chest are crafted from soft vinyl, enhancing the articulation of the waist joint.
The figure comes packed with a variety of interchangeable hand parts, allowing collectors to pose Dark Zagi in its most menacing stances. Also included are effect parts for its devastating signature beam attack, "Lightning Zagi." For an even more dynamic display, beam clash effect parts are provided, perfect for pairing with the separately sold Ultraman Noa to recreate the epic final battle scene.
