Fukumoto Nobuyuki's manga "Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji" (賭博黙示録カイジ) is a household name for many, and even if you haven't delved into the manga, you're probably familiar with the live-action film series starring Fujiwara Tatsuya.
Get ready, because the latest installment in the live-action film series, "Kaiji 4: Life Revenge Game" (カイジ 人生リベンジゲーム), is officially set to hit theaters on January 29, 2027! This marks the fourth film in the franchise and the first new entry in seven years, following 2020's "Kaiji: Final Game." The official announcement also dropped a teaser poster and a special preview video.

In this new flick, our favorite "national-level loser" (as fans affectionately call him), protagonist Kaiji Itou, is once again brought to life by none other than Fujiwara Tatsuya. And guess what? The dream team is back! Director Toya Sato and composer Yugo Kanno are reuniting, ensuring that familiar, high-stakes vibe we all love.
This time around, the story promises the biggest showdown in the series' history: "Kaiji VS Teiai Group." The official word is that the iconic "Steel Beam Crossing" will make a modernized, tech-upgraded return, alongside brand-new, life-or-death gambling games adapted straight from the manga's original arcs.
Oh, and here's a big one: Hyodo Kazuya, son of Teiai Group Chairman Hyodo Kazutaka, is confirmed to appear in the film! Kazuya is a hugely popular and pivotal character in the original manga. He's the ultimate silver-spoon heir, born into a family of immense power, while Kaiji clawed his way up from absolutely nothing. The film will use their intense rivalry to explore the modern societal issue of "parent gacha" (親ガチャ), or the "birth lottery," a hot topic among younger generations.

Fujiwara Tatsuya weighed in, saying:
"It's been seven years, and I'm thrilled to be back in the world of 'Kaiji.' Fukumoto-sensei's creativity and the script are still packed with that unique Kaiji charm, making it an incredibly entertaining work that holds up even today."
Reflecting on the shoot, he chuckled, admitting that this installment features several brand-new games. "Every single scene was grueling," he said, "It felt like the director, staff, and cast were all fighting an endless battle." However, he's super excited about how much CG and VFX technology has advanced, eagerly anticipating what the "real-life Steel Beam Crossing" will look like on screen.

The newly released teaser poster gives us a glimpse of Kaiji standing precariously on the steel beams. The tagline? "ただいま、クズの皆様" which translates to "I'm back, all you losers!"

And if that wasn't enough, the special preview video features the series' iconic "zawa... zawa..." effect, instantly conjuring that familiar sense of unease and dread. Fujiwara Tatsuya's Kaiji makes his grand reappearance, officially signaling the start of another life-or-death struggle!
