Hong Kong toy manufacturer threezero's MDLX series, known for its small-scale mecha action figures, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of "Transformers: The Movie" with a new release: the "Megatron (1986 Movie Edition)" action figure, priced at $99.90 USD!
The formidable Decepticon leader, Megatron, originated as a character in the Transformers series, adapted from the first transforming toys imported by Hasbro from Japan's Takara in 1984. His iconic alternate mode is a Walther P38 pistol, often transformed for his subordinates to wield in the G1 animation and film. Due to evolving toy regulations and the franchise's progression, later comics and animated works frequently depicted him transforming into tanks, fighter jets, and other forms.
This new MDLX Megatron (1986 Movie Edition) stands approximately 18 cm (7 inches) tall. It partially reuses the impressive prototype reinterpreted by threezero Art Director Kelvin Sau, but features a fresh paint scheme specifically designed to capture his appearance in "Transformers: The Movie." Internally, the figure boasts a robust die-cast zinc alloy and engineering-grade plastic frame, ensuring both stability and durability. Externally, the original swirl pattern on his chest has been removed, and the Decepticon insignia has been repainted in an anime-style purple, faithfully recreating his on-screen character design from the film!
Accessories include four pairs of interchangeable hands, his signature Fusion Cannon, and a back-mounted tactical cannon. With 36 points of articulation throughout its body, Megatron can be dynamically posed alongside the simultaneously revealed Optimus Prime and Bumblebee figures from the same series, allowing collectors to recreate epic battle scenes from the movie! As an added bonus, this release also comes with an exclusive character card illustrated by the renowned anime artist Nobuyoshi Habara, making it a truly valuable collectible!
